A temporary position has become available for the position of boyfriend for the 2nd November 2007, located in Birmingham. The current post holder is taking holiday leave at this time and will unfortunately be unable to undertake his duties for the weekend.
Duties include:
- Attending a Meatloaf concert in Birmingham on the Friday night
- Um, yes, that’s all. Sorry.
The ideal candidate will be free for the weekend in question and have an interest in the activities listed. Transportation will be provided if the applicant is travelling from Aberystwyth or en-route from Aberystwyth to Birmingham. Ticket will be provided. There is no obligation to provide the several additional services offered by the current post holder. Gender/age/programming skill no object. You must be able to get on with co-workers, in particular, Ruth, Claire, and JTA.
But seriously: now that Dan can’t (he’s going to a book launch), who wants to come to see Meatloaf with us? I didn’t get to go last time, so I’m excited!
PS: Congratulations to Faye Booth, whose book is being launched that day!

Hmm, this post looks kind of familiar…

Again? Is it something to do with Meatloaf?

Come on, it’s Claire. Did you really expect her to go to all the trouble of writing her own post when she could just copy yours?

Shamelessly plagiarised, because it was funny.

Isn’t that over Abertoir as well?

Can girls be boyfriends?

No they can’t Jen, you’re drinking with me that friday!
Sorry Esk, I’d apply but I really can’t stand Meatloaf. So there’s no point.

Jen: “Gender/age/programming skill no object” –, so yes, girls can be boyfriends! But you’re drinking with Jimmy that Friday, apparently.
Jimmy: No problem, I think I already knew that. It wouldn’t be much fun for you or us if you were shouting “you’re shit” and “get off!” all the time. Well, maybe for you, actually. If you’re drinking that Friday, when are you coming to Aber?
edit: I just had to approve my own comment. That’ll teach me to not be logged in.

Jen, I’m just really forgetful, I live in a dreamworld. Also, I’ve only spoken to you on IRC of late, so you could have been anywhere! I’m sorry!

Right, it’s looking like the replacement boyfriend is to be Ruth’s older brother… So that’s a little weird in context. Ah well.

Claire,
Apologies for not commenting sooner, but I had no idea you’d congratulated me until I randomly clicked on one of Dan’s links to your blog.
So yes, thank you kindly!
