One advantage of being home all day is that you get to the post first. Today there were two items of interest:
- A postcard from Ruth, which has a very pretty picture of something she hasn’t seen, addressed to “All C/O the Q’s”. Thanks very much, Ruth, I’ll pass it round to everyone at Geek/Troma Night.
- A package, handwritten address, addressed to “Mr D. and Ms C. Q”. It contained a widescreen, VHS copy of “The Lawnmower Man” (Starring Pierce Brosnan and Jeff Fahey, boasting special effects ‘better than Terminator 2′ - Sun).
The sender of 2 appears to have gone to great lengths to conceal its origin. The envelope came from play.com, (whether it contained this video originally is unprovable) but their name and address are very well inked out and a label with our address stuck over. There is no franking mark to give away the postal region from which it came — it just has one of those “Royal Mail postage paid” stickers (£1.84, apparently). I don’t recognise the handwriting. It’s a total mystery. Is this a Qparty gift? Does it have some clever and deep meaning that we’re simply missing? Did you see it at Troma Night but were annoyed that the aspect ratio was wrong? In any case, thank you, mysterious benefactor!

The Sender Of 2 wishes it to be known that it is a complete set of coincidences that lead the parcel to be untraceable, but that now it is quite funny and does not want to reveal their identity so soon. Also that Mr and Ms Q have actually received mail from them before and therefore that the distinctive handwriting should be identifiable…

Aha, I think I have figured out who it is. I peeled off the label and could just about make out the name on the envelope… Heather Charlton!
