I won against my bank on penalties… After asking for the unlawful penalty charges to be returned, and then being refused, and then filing court papers, and A&L stating they would file a defense, I have today scored a cheque from them for £1023.64 exactly. I now need to cash the cheque, inform the courts that the matter has been settled, and visit my bank to see if they want to close my account (their letter implied that they did) and point out that closing my account on the basis of a complaint is also illegal.
So, celebrations are in order. As Paul points out, Ghostbusters is on at the Arts Centre cinema at 8pm. We should go and see that, and thereafter go drinking/return to the cottage for champagne. Hurrah!
PS: don’t ask me why all the football puns. Maybe it’s because I don’t know enough about rugby.

Unfortunately due to a late change of plans I’m not in Aber tonight or this weekend. But I may be there next weekend (depends on if a group of people here need my help or not).
Learn more about rugby its a much better game and far more enjoyable to watch (once you know what’s going on).

Wow, that is a lot of money - what exactly did you claim back - just Direct Debit refusal charges and overdraft charges?

I’ve never actually *had* penalty charges, I don’t think. I’ve probably paid about a fiver in interest from when I’ve gone over my overdraft limit, but I’ve never got landed with a penalty for it.
And, yeah, a thousand quid is a fuckload of money. Don’t drink it all in once place.

You would get a fuck load of money when im not around.
Admit it! You did it on purpose, didn’t you!?!

Jon: Yup, it’s all bounced payments and overdraft limit exceeded charges, plus statutory interest (the amount without interest was £900-and-something). Over the past 6 years, mind.
MisterJTA: You’re obviously capable with finances, unlike me! As far as spending it goes, I’m probably gonna have to soak up some debt somewhere… Still leaves me with some free cash though, hurrah! The milky bars are on me!
Becky: Yes.
