It’s been about 2 weeks since I last shampooed my hair. I rinsed it only this morning, but I haven’t had the time or the inclination to properly shampoo and condition since our hot water tap broke on our bath/shower a week and a half ago.
This led to an interesting suggestion from Jen — try not washing it for a while. Apparently it goes back to some sort of “natural state” after about 6 weeks.
I did some research (read: browsed the interweb) and it looks like lots of people have found that their hair is perfectly manageable, in some cases more manageable, without the use of anything but water to clean their hair. I did find a horror story about cradle cap, but the guy in question was not brushing or rinsing his hair, so it probably doesn’t count. Some reports of external smells staying in the hair, but when pubs are non-smoking this will be much less of a problem.
So, I think I’ll give it a go. I’ll call this the 2 week mark, and count on from there. I’m vaguely reminded of a certain food-related challenge I took up a while back, but I think this will be more interesting.
My hair was very greasy after about a week, but has settled down to a more normal state now. Already an upside: I can have short showers!
I’ll let you know how it goes, and you can let me know if it starts to smell.

the daily mail did a thing about this over the summer, three women found their hair to be shinier plus one found she had a lovely natural curl. one woman found it wasn’t for her but i think she was a bit high maintenance.
so good luck should be ok
